It was followed by the British Museum in London opened in 1753 and the Louvre in Paris in 1793.
The world museum derives from the Greek language and means place sacred to the Muses (the Greek goodness patrons of the arts). The first building named museum was in Alexandria of Egypt: it was a place where intellectuals met to discuss about philosophy and science.
