Rome in December is wonderful for kids as Christmas approaches. There are several Christmas events that are not to be missed, particularly when visiting Rome with children. Lots of small markets can be found throughout Rome at Christmas time. However, by far the largest and most popular is the Navona Christmas market… we traditionally bring our children there, and they love it. Kids can meet Santa Claus, see nativity scenes and browse the many stalls for Christmas goodies in the enchanting atmosphere of one of Rome’s most beautiful squares. Tomorrow, October 31st 2012, will be the 500 years birthday of Michelangelo’s genesis, the amazing painting program he realized along the course of 4 years for the pope Julius the II. It was the same pope Julius the II to unveil the marvelous ceiling with the celebration of the Vespers Mass of All Saints’ Day on October 31st of the year 1512. A large number of state museums will be open tomorrow night from 8:00 till 2:00am.
Some events and concerts will be organized as well...the museums cost will be 1 euro. It's a great opportunity for Romans and foreign travelers.... In Easter week there are many celebrations in the Vatican. Travelers that wish to visit Rome has to remember that the visit of Saint Peter Basilica can be difficult, while the Vatican museums are closed on April the 8th and 9th.
