I'll be happy to guide your family here in Rome and I have a large experience in leading tours with families. I'm a mother too and I deeply understand the concern about kids getting the most out of their roman experience without being overwhelmed.
.
I usually gear the tour towards the kids not forgetting the adult needs.
My tours are private, just for your family: each tour last a minimum 3 hours.
I believe that private guiding, when you’re travelling with the family, may be more convenient than group tours, and, above all, the tours will be shaped following your interests and family needs.
When I work with families I like to tailor, ahead of time, itineraries suited on your requests.
Depending on the time you wish to spend together I’ll suggest you in the best way.
Following there’s a list of tours and attractions suggested for families. You can chose amidst them and I’ll tell you how long it will take.
As you know Rome has a very long history and I prefer to start touring the archeological area first to introduce Rome and its long history
The archeological area (coliseum – roman forum and imperial palaces); tour;
The underground Rome tour (the church of San Clemente undergrounds and the ‘Insula’ below san Giovanni e Paolo).
There are different subterranean sites in Rome’s city centre. Aside from the above tour we can add a site to any other itinerary we chose.
The Ancient Ostia tour: similarly to Pompeii, ancient Ostia is a wonderfully preserved ancient roman city very easy to reach by subway system.
Kids can explore, jump amidst the ruins, and get a real feeling of the ancient roman daily life.
The Vatican museums & St Peter basilica;
The Vatican museum is extremely inspiring for teens; it can be crowded but we’ll study a strategy for you to have the most pleasant experience.
The old Appian way and catacomb tour
Other fascinating sites are:
The Castel St. Angelo;
The Circus Maximus;
The Baths of Caracalla;
The Capitoline Museum;
The Aurelian walls walk and museum;
The Bocca della Verita' (mouth of the Truth);
The Trevi fountain;
The Capuchins Bone's Church;
The Janiculum hill and Trastevere District;
The church of St. Ignacio with the false dome, a perfect optical illusion.
We’ll decide together the best visiting time depending on the season of your arrival.
I will also suggest sites to visit on your own in the surroundings of your hotel and foodie attractions.
I hope this info will be useful to define our time together…
