Tomorrow, October 31st 2012, will be the 500 years birthday of Michelangelo’s genesis, the amazing painting program he realized along the course of 4 years for the pope Julius the II.
It was the same pope Julius the II to unveil the marvelous ceiling with the celebration of the Vespers Mass of All Saints’ Day on October 31st of the year 1512.

Form a burial site in Lanuvium,475 BC

The tomb of the warrior found in Lanuvium and dating from 475BC remains an exception within the general picture of Latium tombs from the 6th and 5th century BC.

Lanuvium was an ancient independent town in the vicinity of Rome, some 32 km south. In the 6th century BC it was part of Latin League and made several wars against Rome at the battle of Aricia (504 BC) and Lake Regillus (496 BC) and again in 383 and 341 BC. In 338 BC it was finally conquered by Rome.

Tabella Defixionis, 1st century BC

This is a lead course tablet ( tabella defixionis), in which Pluto ( Dis Pater), the god of the underworld, is invoked to put an end to the love between Rhodine and Faustus.

“ Just as the corpse buried here can neither speak nor converse, so let Rhodine be death for Marcus Licinius Faustus”…

This object dates back to the 1st century BC: who knows if it worked..

The Trojan horse Frescoes from Pompeii 45-79AD

This painting depicts the important moment of the entry into the city of the Trojan horse.
The crowds is cheering and joyful but the deaths of the long war and the city's fate are represented by the male figure seated by the column and by Cassandra, who kneels before the statue of Athena.

This is indeed the beginning of the story culminating in the foundation of Rome.
