TOMB WITH PAINTINGS from the Necropolis in via Portuense

This beautiful tomb with paintings returned to light in1951 during some street works in Quirino Maiorana road. 
It was excavated inside the tufa stone and was part of a vast necropolis area dating from the end of the first century A.D. until the third century A.D.

VERDURE AL FORNO: baked vegetables

This is an extremely easy recipe that gives excellent results and require a very short preparation.
Take all the kind of vegetables you like more  (zucchini, pepper, potatoes, mushrooms, carrot, onion, tomato, artichokes – not leafs vegetables as spinach , usually I don’t use broccoli or cauliflowers either because they have a too strong flavor that will cover the others) or you’ve at home.

The first public art collection is the Capitoline museum in Rome. Established in 1471 thanks to an important donation of antique sculptures and bronze artworks donated to the Roman citizens by the pope Sistus IV.

Bernini’s Baldachin in St. Peter basilica

Annually, on occasion of the Easter celebrations, St Peter’s baldachin  is cleaned and shined with oil. 
It’s quite an happening to be there when this happens, as it’s the time we understand better the real dimension of this colossal sculpture conceived and casted by Gianlorenzo Bernini in the 17th century. 
This year I was in the archeological area when this happened but my sister Marta Marsili, a great local guide of Rome, was there, and she made the picture I show you.

The Vittoriano and the Unknown Soldier
