All the state museums will be free of charge from April 14th till April 22nd.

This means every Roman museum except the Vatican will be free of charge.

Remember that for some attractions reservation is suggested to skip long lines. For istance the archeological area (Coliseum and Roman Forum). You can ask your hotel concierge to make a reservation for you (1,50 euro per person) or purchase the ticket (valid for two days) very early in the morning (8:30am) or around 4:00pm when normally there is no line.

If there are temporary exhibit housed in state museums you may just pay a little fee.
